Happy 2010!

I am writing this post all snuggled up with a blanket on my couch. It is FREEZING outside, and from what I hear, is only going to get worse. It snowed most of the afternoon/evening last night and tomorrow the temperature is going to drop even more ... high of -2 with windchills around 30 below. Fabulous. The only good thing about these conditions is that I don't have to work - gotta love SNOW DAYS!
We spent some time in St Louis last week, and had a wonderful time with Eli's family. Ella got to spend lots of time with her Grandma Cathryn and Papa George, Aunt Emily and Uncle Adam, Aunt Melissa, Uncle Josh, and cousin Grace, Aunt Sarah and Uncle Matt, Great Grandma and Grandpa Goodwin, Grandma Sheila, and Great Grandma and Grandpa Gum.

Emily and Adam threw a New Year's Eve party, so Grandma Cathryn got to spend some special time with Ella while mom and dad celebrated. Prior to the party, we had a little family birthday celebration for Eli. His cake candles read "Oh no, the big 3-0", but his plates read "30 - the party is just beginning". Eli was pretty positive about turning 30, but I think he just imagined being in a little better shape for this monumental day :).

Eli's shoulder is healing nicely and the doctor told him this week that he didn't have to wear the immobilizer anymore (after only 2 weeks). However, he still has to keep his arm stable by his side. He will start physical therapy in about two weeks. In the meantime, he is getting pretty proficient using only his left arm all of the time!

Here are some new picture of our little Ella Bean. She turned 5 months old yesterday, and we can hardly believe it. At this point, here are some exciting things that Ella is doing:

Sleeping all the way through the night (most nights)
Eating cereal twice a day
Moving around on her belly (scooting or spinning on her tummy)
Grabbing/manipulating things
Taking her pacifier in and out of her mouth
Jumping and playing in her new jumperoo excersaucer
Reaching for and touching the pages in books
Smiling all of the time
Intently watching moving objects, faces, dogs
Ella in her new Rainforest Jumperoo - a gift from her Nana and Grandpa Heeter. I think she really likes it ~ she seems to be a big fan of anything that lets her stand up on her legs!
