Ella Plugged In

Our little Bean has become quite the pro with technology. At 27 months, she can pick up my iPod Touch, unlock the screen, scroll through the apps to find the one she wants, and navigate her way through each one of them on her own. You almost have to see it to believe it. My mom sat in the backseat of our car one day and got to witness this entire process go down ... she was blown away.

at 18 months old, she was already multi-tasking on the phone and the computer

Ella is the proud owner of some of our old cell phones, and uses them regularly to call her Nana and Papa and anyone else she feels like talking to. She'll have an entire conversation with the person on the phone, complete with a "love you" and "bye bye". She'll even tilt her shoulder up to her ear to hold the phone hands-free. Cracks me up everytime.

She's starting to like the computer, as well, and is fascinated with what happens when she punches all the keys. We're hoping to get her a kid-friendly mouse for Christmas, so that she can start to use websites like Starfall, TumblebooksPBS Kids, PBS Kids Sprout, and We Give Books  to learn new things.

At the rate she is going, it's crazy to think about how tech savvy she will be when she's a teenager. I can only imagine the tools that are going to be available to her.

If you have an iPad, iPod Touch, or iPhone and are interested in introducing some fun apps to your toddler, here are some of our faves:

The Monster at the End of This Book (Ella's favorite)
Ballonimals
Talking Ben
Old MacDonald (Duck Duck Moose)
Itsy Bitsy Spider (Duck Duck Moose)
Wheels on the Bus (Duck Duck Moose)
Starfall ABCs
TozzleLite
LunchBox
